November 2019

The Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (Royal SpringBoard) Impact Report, was launched on 14th November 2019. The launch was generously hosted by Credit Suisse in the presence of Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, alongside 200 supporters including current and former pupils.

The Impact Report offers statistically robust evidence of the positive impact that full bursary placements in the boarding sector can have on transforming lives by raising the employability, educational attainment and aspirations of disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in the UK.

Key highlights show that:

  • 89% of Royal SpringBoard’s children at boarding schools have secured places in sustained higher education, employment or training (compared to 69% of disadvantaged pupils nationally)
  • 82% of Royal SpringBoard school leavers have secured places at university (compared to 26% of disadvantaged pupils nationally)
  • 97% of Royal SpringBoard’s school leavers achieve at least 2 A-levels (compared to 16% of disadvantaged pupils nationally)

The Impact Report is based on analysis of the results of the 716 disadvantaged and vulnerable young people who Royal SpringBoard have supported at some of the UK’s leading state and independent boarding schools since 2013.

At the launch, Royal SpringBoard Alumni (young people who are now at University or in employment having completed their boarding school journey) mingled with guests and reflected on their experiences.

Royal SpringBoard are extremely grateful for the generous support it receives from the Buffini Chao Foundation.
