August 2026
The Buffini Chao Foundation has been supporting the cricketing charity Chance to Shine for a number of years. Their coaches introduce children and young people to the game through street cricket which is a highly accessible and fun format.
BCF Trustee, Sue Gutierrez, enjoyed a day attending the National Girls’ Street Cricket Finals held in the impressive sports hall at Nottingham University. The top u12 and u15 teams from regions all over England were there and the atmosphere was electric thanks to loud cheering, face paint and buckets of team spirit! The standard was high but what was more impressive was the obvious joy in playing cricket and the friendships that the girls have forged as a result.
The girls enjoyed a Q & A session with female cricketing role models including the Captain of the Pakistan women’s team, Fatima Sana who encouraged them to follow their passion and work hard. The Chance to Shine mascot, Charlie was very popular and the girls were also inspired to see the Red Roses who were on a training camp at the university.
Congratulations to the winners and all the girls and coaches who made this such a memorable and enjoyable day!
