Sir Damon and Lady Buffini visited the new Newcastle East Into University branch and were given a tour of the space prior to the students arriving to the centre to begin their session. The centre felt bright, relaxed and welcoming.
The centre is connecting with schools in the Walker area to provide an in-schools programme in addition to their after-school sessions. Nearly 1,000 young people have signed up to attend the primary and secondary academic support groups. The centre also provides mentoring opportunities for graduates/undergraduates at the partner universities and for professionals at local businesses.
