BCF Trustee, Karen Platt attended the Untold Fashion Show at HMP Isis.
The young men on this project designed their own motifs to tell their own, “Untold” story. Included were themes of getting out of Peckham, self-improvement and reaching for goals.
The design training and embroidered motifs along with the designed and washed denim jackets for the motifs to be sewn on to were provided by fellow supporters.
The young men looked spectacular. All the catwalk practice paid off, and they confidently displayed their creations and a couple also performed very impressive rap songs.
Untold is a charitable organisation, working to deliver a creative art industry training programme in prison. Their aim is to give each young person they work with a chance to rewrite their story through engagement in their creative arts programmes. The course is embedded in the existing prison education regime, and they work with creative partners to provide post release employment, education or training.
